Firehouse Subs® Brings Hearty Sandwiches and Community Commitment to Kanata with Restaurant Opening

Firehouse Subs Canada continues to expand its footprint with the latest opening in Kanata. Located at 145 Roland Michener Drive, Kanata, ON K2T 1G7, the restaurant is owned by Firehouse Subs Franchisee Omer Ozal.

Omer first experienced Firehouse Subs in Oshawa, Ontario, where he enjoyed a Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket™ sub and fell in love with what the restaurant brand stands for. Alongside his wife, Naila Mohiuddin, he opened his first Firehouse Subs restaurant in Nepean in July 2020. Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic’s first lockdown, Omer and Naila grew as restaurant operators and a couple.

“What sold me on joining the Firehouse Subs family was the unwavering commitment to community through the support of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada,” said Omer. “Being at the forefront of providing lifesaving equipment to our brave and selfless first responders has given me immense personal satisfaction. The local community has helped us tremendously already, and I sincerely thank our amazing and loyal guests in Ottawa.”

Omer is dedicated to sharing the brand’s commitment to giving back through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada, which has granted more than $2.5 million to hometown heroes in Ontario.

For each new Firehouse Subs location, a custom mural is commissioned and hand-painted by Chief Mural Officer, Joe Puskas. Every mural is unique to its community and the restaurant, with this one paying homage to the former Kanata Fire Department when it was previously known as the March Township Fire Department.

The Kanata Centrum location boasts the new Community Design restaurant concept, featuring enhancements made to provide a better dining experience for guests, in addition to a new back-of-the-house layout with a more efficient flow for crew members. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m., seven days a week.
