Firehouse Subs Bowmanville donates more than $46,000 to Clarington Fire

Firehouse Subs Bowmanville has only been open for five months and has already set a record.

On March 8, the local store donated more than $46,000 to help Clarington Emergency and Fire Services buy an industrial gear washer.

Funds for the donation were raised through a portion of store sales going to the Public Safety Foundation of Canada. The grant the Bowmanville store received is the largest one yet from the foundation.

The gear washer, the first of its kind in Durham, uses specialized technology to sanitize equipment and remove toxins and carcinogens.

Jasmine Nellis was the youngest Firehouse franchisee in Canada when she opened the Bowmanville location on Oct. 5, 2021.

She started with the company six years ago working at the first Canadian Firehouse location in Oshawa.
